A City Mourns Victims of Police Violence

In remembrance of the one year anniversary of the death of Michael Brown, an 18 year old African American who was shot 6 times by police officer Darren Wilson, 28, in Ferguson, Missouri, protesters organized by Black Lives Matter 5280 marched from the historic black neighbourhood of Five Points to Civic Center Park to hold a vigil for victims of police violence on August 9, 2015 in Denver, Colorado.

BLM 5280 was co-founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi with the intention to unite black communities in Denver while eliminating anti-black violence and racism. Among the estimated 300 protesters a majority were women of colour.
